Dr. John Brimhall's Puzzle Piece: Case Study - 3 Year Old with Frequent Urination
John Brimhall, D.C.
Dear Dr. Brimhall, Hope this email finds you doing well. My wife and I are excited to be at either the Atlanta seminar or the Orange Beach seminar. I'm writing because my 3.5 year old son had a virus about 4-5 weeks ago and afterwards, he has not quit urinating every 5-10 minutes, sometimes more often than that. From what I've read and researched it's called Pollakuria (not polyuria), it's small amounts of urine, sometimes just dribbles out, but he has that urge to go, and at night, he doesn't have to go. It's embarrassing for him as he doesn't want to go to school because he says he tee-tee's too much, and it's driving mom and myself insane as we can't go anywhere without him going to the bathroom a bunch. I've tried the laser and adjusting him, haven't tried the percussor yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated? Thank you so much for your help. . . .

Introducing Entry Level Clinical Nutrition™ -- Part V The New Age Of Sickness And Scarcity: An Overview of the Seven-Step Program
Jeff Moss, DDS, CCN, DACBN
My last post reviewed the impressive work of Stig Bengmark, MD, PhD, an internationally recognized expert on critical care nutrition. In that post, I noted that Dr. Bengmark draws a direct linkage between the acute phase response -- a response to a short, intense, traumatic stress -- and what he calls the chronic phase response (CPR). He says that the CPR is the body's response to "long-lasting, continuous . . . mental and/or physical stress". He says that its effects resemble those of the acute phase response in many respects. . . .

Using Blood Testing to Assess for Prostate Cancer
Dicken Weatherby, ND
Prostate cancer is currently the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in US men. Prostatic cells are more prone to mutation than other cells of the male reproductive system and evidence from autopsies showed that 34% of men aged 40 -- 49 have histological evidence of prostate cancer. This rose to 70% in men aged 80 or over . With so many men experiencing health issues . . .

Prescription Drug Reactions Affect 25% of Seniors
Keri Knox, RN
A new study shows that 25% of the elderly who are in home care have reactions to prescribed drugs. This is ONE in FOUR elderly that have REPORTED drug reactions!! The elderly, the report states, are now taking 6 or more different prescribed drugs on a daily basis! And even though these drugs are theoretically "properly" prescribed, 25% of our most vulnerable population is having reactions to the drug . . .

Dr. John Brimhall's Puzzle Piece: What is Narcolepsy and what can we do about it?
John Brimhall, D.C.
Narcolepsy is a neurological disorder that affects the control of sleep and wakefulness. People with narcolepsy experience excessive daytime sleepiness and intermittent, uncontrollable episodes of falling asleep during the daytime. These sudden sleep attacks may occur during any type of activity at any time of the day. This factor makes it very dangerous and threatening to the patient's life and wellbeing. . . .

Is the Pneumococcal Vaccine All its Cracked Up to Be?
Keri Knox, RN
The CDC, hospitals and doctor's offices around the country are intent on pushing the pneumococcal vaccine as a safe and effective way to reduce the burden of pneumonia on society. It's touted as being especially important for the elderly population to get this vaccine, as they are not only more prone to GET pneumonia, but more prone to dying from it or becoming critically ill. . . .
